Scientists gave mice a drug that wipes out their immune defenses, then treated them with a substance called Mannatide, made from yeast cell walls rather than any plant. The mice's immune organs recovered, their gut lining got stronger, and helpful gut bacteria that produce beneficial fatty acids came back in force. It's a reminder that what happens in the gut microbiome, whether in a mouse or in your own compost pile full of microbes, ripples out into whole-body health.
