If you keep bees or garden for pollinators, these stingless species quietly pollinate crops and wild plants across Africa while producing honey used in traditional medicine, yet we still don't understand their nesting or defense behavior well enough to protect them.
There's a group of bees in Africa that don't sting, live in complex social colonies, and make their own unique honeys used both as food and medicine. Researchers combed through existing studies and found that while we know these bees are ecologically important pollinators, huge gaps remain in understanding how they choose nest sites, communicate with chemicals, and determine which bees become queens versus workers. Filling in these gaps could help people manage and conserve them better.
