Scientists split one stink bug species into three distinct ones

Researchers examined a common Brazilian stink bug called Edessa rufomarginata and found that individuals varying in color patterns weren't just natural variation within one species. They were actually three separate species that had been mistakenly lumped together, so two older species names are being restored to use.

Two previously synonymized species, Edessa albomarginata and Edessa marginalis, were revalidated as distinct species
