The bees buzzing around your garden beds this spring could still show up right on schedule with your blooms and still struggle, because heat itself is cutting flower numbers, nectar quality, and bee survival behind the scenes.
Scientists used to worry that warming would throw flowers and bees out of sync, with blooms opening before or after bees show up. This experiment found that timing actually stayed matched even under warmer conditions, but the partnership still fell apart: warm springs meant fewer flowers, less nectar, weaker bee survival, and fewer bee visits overall. So the plants and bees can meet on schedule and still fail each other because heat wears them both down individually.
