Polyphenols are natural molecules found throughout the plant world, in things like tea leaves, tree bark, and wine grapes, and they're sticky, reactive, and good at grabbing onto other materials. Researchers are borrowing these properties to build new farming tools: seed coatings that protect against disease, materials that deliver nutrients more precisely, and sensors that monitor soil health, all designed to reduce the environmental damage caused by conventional farming chemicals.
