This matters because most existing seed science was built on data from cooler, temperate regions like Europe and North America, which don't reflect how tropical plants actually grow and reproduce. The new database covers over 5,000 species across 33 countries, giving scientists a much better foundation for understanding and protecting the world's most biodiverse forests.
